The Society is to hold its biennial congress at San Lameer along the Natal South Coast on the 12th -14th July 2001. The organising committee have registered the meeting with the University of Natal and have requested 16 points towards registration for CME requirements. (View Meeting Programme.)
The theme of the congress is 'State of the Art in Cardiothoracic Surgery.' There will be 4 international speakers including , Randolf Woolf and Dr. Califiori. Prof John Barlow will be talking along with Professors and from UCT.
It promises to be an interesting and uplifting meeting with plenty to interest both the Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons within our Society. Presentations will be made on off pump cardiac surgery, bioprostheses, lung carcinoma, Tetralogy of Fallot as well as ethical considerations and statistics. Following input after the last meeting there will also be some time set aside for members to relax with arrangements being made for Golfing, Whale Watching and even Deep Sea Fishing off the Natal Coast.
The Society will hold its AGM on the 14th prior to a dinner on the San Lameer estate. It is hoped that as many members as possible attend but as it is a relatively small venue, early application is an essential.
